I fear this child as a teenager...

I am not entirely sure why Taylie insists on horrifying Jacob with every chance she gets, but it sure makes for some good entertainment for me and I am just hoping that she gets it out of her system now rather then when she is a (gulp) teenager...

This is a conversation between Jake and Tay the other day:
I was laughing so hard it made me cry...

(Taylie waddles into the room, panties around her ankles)

Taylie: "Dad, look! These are my buttcheeks!"
(she then bends over, and spreads her bum apart)

Jacob: "Taylie! Don't do that! Stop showing your bum, nobody wants to see that!"

(she then looks at him, from between her legs, upside down...)
Taylie: "But dad, I love to be naked with my butt-cheeks!"

Luke: (as he points at her and clapping his hands...) "Ha Ha Ha!"
He then tries to remove his diaper...

I didn't post pictures for obvious reasons, but even as I write this, I cannot control my laughter!
Jacob was, needless to say, mortified.

kid-ism

Jacob: "Taylie, please put your clothes in the washer. We don't leave them on the floor."

(Taylie throws her hands in the air and stomps off...)

Taylie: "Grrrrrrrrrrr! DAD, you make me CRAZY!"

(I was rolling on the ground laughing!)

they grow so fast...

my little guy is growing up so much faster than I want him to, and I think that he wants to grow up a bit faster than he is able. ;) For lunch one day, he wanted to sit at the table in Taylie's chair like a big boy. I let him, and he actually fell off the chair a bit later. :(

He is so proud of himself!

but as we all know, with more privileges comes more responsibility and getting in a bit more trouble.

This is Luke in his first time out.

He was trying to get Taylie in trouble! He kept opening up the doors to the laundry/furnace room and taunting her to come in (where they are not supposed to be). When I went to get him out, he looked at me, smiled, shook his head 'no' and sat down. He actually thought he was pretty cool, walked over to the corner, sat down, and giggled the whole time he was there. He just needed a reminder to know who was in charge.... :)

So, my big boy finally got his first haircut!!!! It has been a long time coming and he was getting pretty shaggy.

Here are some before pictures:

(suckers make it all better...)

and here we go!
My best friend, Whitney, does hair and she said she would cut it for me. (she did Taylie's first cut and her trims too) She gave Luke a sucker which most likely is what kept him from screaming. Whitney also has dogs which Luke has taken a recent liking to. In the above picture, he is trying to share his sucker with Daisy the chihuahua.

and after!

Now he is trying to share with me...
He did wonderful and didn't really even know anything happened. It is not too much shorter, he can see and now I can actually see his eyes and he still has his cute little curls in the back. I was SO worried that they would be gone forever and that is why I waited so long to get it cut in the first place. But, the poor boy couldn't see, so it was time. Once I saw the little curls bounce back after bath time, I was SOOOOO happy!!!!

We stayed and played for a bit because Whitney has a girl, Brylee, who is 6 months younger than Taylie so they are good buddies. When her boy, Preston, gets a bit older I am sure that him and Luke will be good friends too!

But today Luke opted to play with the dogs. I actually surprised me because Grandma Brooks has a dog at her house and everytime Taylie goes to say hi to Sadie he screams at her and backs up far enough so Sadie can't touch him. He took to feeding Sadie the other day and since then has been all over anything with dogs.

This is Dewy. Whitney is watching Dewy for her mom-in-law. Luke was trying to share his sucker with Dewy when he fell over. There is a movie at the end with Luke playing fetch with him. Very cute!

This I had to put in for sentimental reasons. This is the SAME swing set that Whitney and I used to play on when we were little! Like, I was 5 and she was 4!!! The swing set survived and now our little girls get to play on it. Fun huh?

I have to thank Whitney for making my baby boy look like a toddler! He looks so cute, you always do an awesome job!

Here is some footage of Luke getting his little baby hair cut off!

This is Luke playing "fetch" with Dewy.

It goes something like this:
Luke throws the ball (as well as a 1 year old can)
Dewy gets the ball
Luke SCREAMS at Dewy until he drops the ball
Luke gets the ball and starts again...

For my "little chicklet"

This is mainly for my little baby girl. So feel free to skip by if you wish...

Someday, when you are older and want to know what things you liked to sing, and play, and do as a toddler, I am hoping that you can look back at this. I hope that you will laugh at what a WONDERFUL and PERFECT little girl you were. I know that I whine about the trouble you cause me to the Grandmas and Grandpas, but you really were the absolute best kid I could have asked for. You brought so much fun and laughter into our home! So someday, after blogging has long gone out of style, I will still have this somewhere because of the sentimental schmuck that I am and you can see what you added to our family! Here are a few fun memories of you up to about age 3:

These are you 2 favorite songs, as of today. It may change tomorrow. You just never know with you... ;)

I was folding laundry in my room with the radio blasting out some good old rock music. When this song came on, you ran in and said that you liked this one because "it is my fa-bo-ite song". When we ride in the car, you say: "mom, turn on my song. ok, now turn it up...a little more...a little more...a little more...ok, that's good." Because of you, your brother has developed a preference for rock music. (although, he prefers "Paralyzer" by Finger Eleven...) You LOVE music, anytime and anywhere. You take any chance to dance and get a total kick out of the game "Guitar Hero".
Your Guitar Hero choices include:
"Slow Ride" by Foghat
"La Grange" by ZZ Top
"Crazy Train" by Ozzy
"Lips of an Angel" by Hinder
"Misery Business" by Paramore
and you love anything by Taylor Swift, which brings me to your other favorite song for the moment...

When this song comes on, you grab anything that could possible resemble a microphone and sing your guts out! Even if I am doing things around the house and sing a few words, you will pick up exactly where I leave off and finish the song in the entirety. This is also the song that you can listen to over and over and over and over....and never get sick of it!

You had many favorite movies because your taste changed so quickly and you loved anything that had LOTS of music and scenes for you to act out. So when we found this movie...

We knew you would love it! Then...after we actually sat down and watched it and the content we thought that it was probably not suitable for you seeing as how you soak up everything you hear and see like a sponge! And usually the bad things and habits too... there were far too many things we did not want you accidentally displaying in public, so, we cut you off. But I did get you the soundtrack and you accepted that just as well as the movie. :)

You love anything and everything outdoors, especially when it gives you the chance to take your clothes off...I won't say much more there.

Today, you told me that this little munchkin in the photo with you was your best friend:

You both bombarded me while I was in the bathroom and I told you to both "scatter like bugs" and you told me: "Mom, this is Luke. He is my best friend." Needless to say, I melted and let you do whatever you wanted.

You are SUCH A BUSY CHILD! I can hardly get you to stay still, even when watching a movie you get up and wander around and catch bits and pieces of it. Ironically, the thing that you will hold still for is this:

We just had the 2010 winter Olympics a few weeks ago and you would sit still for the snowboarding and skiing. Weird that the only thing to get you to sit still is extreme sports...

Well, my little chicklet, this is you in a very small nutshell. I say very small because you have so much that makes you who you are and such an explosive personality that you cannot ever be contained! And I love you for that just the way you are!
Love,
Mom

Kid-isms

  • Taylie: "Look mom...I have a wedgie, so just pick it okay?!"

  • It was pretty overcast outside today, so we walk outside and Taylie looks up at the sky and the first words out of her mouth are:
" Tut Tut, it looks like rain!"

This girl kills me! So randomly funny!

we're goin' private!

After debating with this idea for a few months, I have decided that I am going to make the blog private. It kinds of freaks me out what other blogs I can find just by hitting the "next" button and I am not too keen on the idea of some creepos stalking my kids or family's pictures.

So for all of your blog stalkers out there, leave me a comment with your name and email address and I will get you invited! (assuming, of course, that I know you...)

It will be going private on Sunday.
