4 month check-up

Yes, he is still enormous! Luke went in for his 4 month check today and he now weighs:

19 lbs!!

He is 19 lbs and 26.5 inches long, needless to say he is a big boy who eats well :) It was a pretty impressive weigh in, but the record is still held by his cousin Jefferson who weighed in at 20 lbs at his 4 month check. Well done boys! We seem to grow them big in this family, which is funny, because Brittany (Jefferson's mommy) is pretty tiny...go figure!

This was actually taken a few weeks ago, so he is even more gushy now then he was when we took this!

play hard and rest easy

This little boy just steals a piece of my heart every day! When I get looks and giggles like this, it makes me so glad that I am a mom. I love Taylie so much, but there is just something about a little boy that is so sweet!

He is has been working on turning his flab into functional abs! He likes to sit in the walker and he can hold his body upright pretty well, I underestimated him and was very impressed when he picked up on it right away.

Of course, all of that hard "muscle toning" (yeah, I'm sure!) just wears him out! He loves to nap in his swing. Sometimes he is so tired he cannot even hold his body upright, he just slumps right over and falls asleep with those fingers in his mouth!

Oh! I love my boy!!!!

one more....

Have you ever heard of that book, "If you give a mouse a cookie..."? It goes something like this: "if you give a mouse a cookie, then he will want a glass of milk to go with it," The story continues on with the mouse wanting just one more thing...and one more thing...and one more thing. Taylie reminds me alot of this book!! It is always just one more.

On this particular day, I was feeling in a rather pleasant mood, which has been few and far between these days with a newborn, a full school load and a husband who consistantly works weekends. I asked Taylie if she wanted to help me with some cleaning and re-arranging. We began by cleaning out the first mess that she had left in my curio cabinet and cleaned off all of the finger prints and dusted all of my little objects. I told her that we were done and I moved onto somthing else just assuming that she would follow behind me. I realized that I was being far to productive and that Taylie was M.I.A. I went looking for her and found this:

She wanted to do "one more" (as she calls it) and help re-decorate my curio with her little barn and zoo animals. This picture doesn't fully do it justice. The onsomble is complete with rubber duckie, a farmer, Noah from the ark and I think she sqeezed an Elmo in there somewhere. To top it off, she replaced the fignerprints that I had cleaned off not quite 15 min before. She just wanted to put in "one more"....

On the same day, I let her help me cook some food. We got a new toaster oven and she has been watching ever-so-carefully to try and figure out how to use it. When the house gets a little too quiet, I go looking and usually run across something like this:

I walked in and asked her "what do you think you are doing missy moo?" she looked at me with the biggest smile and said: "Taylie cook!" She had taken my butter and put it in the toaster oven. When it started falling through the rack, she placed it back in the butter dish. In this process, she got butter everywhere!! Her hands, the counter, and all over my new toaster inside and out. She just wanted to cook "one more".

my mini stud muffin

We got Luke's pictures taken a few weeks ago and I just had to share them with everyone!

We got this one especially for Grandma Linda, we all know of her love of cute naked babies!

we moved! again....

This is really not that big of news. It seems like every time we turn around we are moving. This is the 5th move that we have had in our almost 5 years of marriage. ugh. This new place is not far at all from where we were living. It is a nice little place that will serve us well until we are ready to get back into our own house. These are some pictures of the place so far. Cut me some slack on the mess, it has only been a couple of days and it was such an abrupt move that we didn't even have boxes, it was pretty bad. This is what we've done so far. I will get some more pictures up when things get more put together.

Family room looking from the kitchen

Family room looking from the entry way

Kitchen from the family room

Kitchen/Family room from a view by the sink

our bedroom from the inside corner

our bedroom from the hallway, a mess I know.

Taylie's bedroom, mostly put together. I just need to finish hanging her
pictures and her curtains. View from the hallway.

Tay's room from the closet

Bathroom...obviously.

my soon-to-be laundry room. all it needs is a washer/dryer.

Luke's room. It is doubling as storage space until we get everything put away. He still sleeps in our room, so it is not really a big deal at all.

and the grand finale...Taylie re-organizing my canned goods.

what else would she be doing, right?

...and she does it again!

Taylie is so funny I can hardly keep myself from laughing all the time!! Yesterday we had a special treat for breakfast, we had Daddy make us chocolate chip waffles! It is a VERY rare treat, especially for breakfast. Well, Jacob took off of work this morning and Taylie looked at her Daddy with those big blue eyes and asked him to make her a "pucky chippy" for breakfast!!! Hahaha :) How funny is that?

personality pics

I know that everyone thinks that they have the cutest kids, but I think mine are totally adorable!! We have so many pictures of the kids that don't necessarily have a story to go with them, they are best described as personality pictures that seem to show their true colors. These are a ton of "personality pics" of the kids.

Luke's Auntie Allison bought him this outfit for Christmas. Now that he is big enough to fit into it, we took a picture so we could see him in it before he grew right out of it. He hates it when I play "dress up" with him, but he was a very good sport for this picture.

He was in the middle of a diaper change and was so happy!! This kid loves to be naked.

That finger is in his mouth about 95% of the time

say cheese for Grandpa....

ever since we took him to the chiropractor, he has been a totally different baby!! he is SO happy all the time, I love it!

my two handsome boys and their crazy hair

As a mom, I think that their are some special things that are reserved just for me. These smiles are one of them. He has this special little look and smile that only I can get him to do!!

This is the cute little face that I get to wake up to every morning...

Sunday afternoon nap with dad

Did you think that we forgot about Taylie? How could we leave out miss personality herself?! Tay got to play with Grandpa on Saturday while I went shopping for diapers. She though it would be fun to sit in the tree. It made for an adorable picture!!

When you are doing something you shouldn't, what do you do as a two year old? Apparently, the answer is to curl up and hope mom doesn't notice you in her laundry basket with your illicit binky.

Is it possible to be loved too much? Luke would probably answer yes. He was just hanging out in his bed while I took a quick trip to the potty. I came out and Taylie had found a way to climb up in with him and was just keeping him company. I am still not sure how she got in there without squishing him flat, but she seems to manage the impossible. Note the expression on Luke's face!!

the mind of a 2 year old

These are a few of those memories I wanted to write down so I would not forget them.

The first one happened the other day while Taylie was eating lunch. I made her a peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich, it is her favorite and she calls it "butty and jam". cute huh? Anyway, I gave her the sandwich and she started singing this little song: "butty and jam, butty and jam, mmmm butty and jam, I love butty and jam" that went on for a short minute and somehow she transitioned to: "itsy spider, climb up, down rain, wash, up sun, no rain, itsy spider, ALL DONE! " I could not help myself from laughing. It was so cute that first she made up a song about "butty and jam" and then somehow her little mind switched to the itsy bitsy spider. These ar moments that I wish would I would never forget!

The second one is a little embarrassing to me, but Taylie was so funny I have to tell it anyway. Jacob fell asleep on the couch with Luke and so when it came time to get Taylie showered and ready for bed, I just decided to jump in the shower with her because I had not had the chance earlier in the day. I was washing my hair and she was playing with her toys and all of the sudden she looked at my bum and pointed to my bum crack. She was so concerned and said: "oh! mama have owie!" I laughed so hard! I then told her that I did not have an owie and that it was supposed to be that way, then she said "mama need a tiss?" (you know, a kiss?) I quickly told her no, I did not need a kiss but thank you anyway. She went on with her business and I was able to finish my shower in peace. It is so funny how kids learn, it is not very often you see your own bum so how what she supposed to know?

I love the way the mind of a 2 year old works, it is so innocent and sweet....most of the time!

the little tornado

I thought that it would be a better idea to have Taylie's toys in her room rather than out in our front room. We are tight on space as it is, and that day I decided that I had stepped on my last puzzle piece. So we went ahead and moved the toys into her room and she was so excited to have them there. I am still deciding if it was a good or bad idea.

it was just a little too quiet and so I went to check on her and found this....

....does this really surprise anybody anymore?

about 45 minutes later....

...and about 15 minutes after that:

whatever.

woohoo!

Luke slept through the night!! He went to bed at 11pm last night and didn't make a peep until 7:30 this morning. THEN, he ate and went right back to sleep and is still sleeping! Today is going to be a great day....I can tell.
